Yes, it's true--We are aging. The 50+ segment of our population is growing rapidly today due to extended longevity and the Baby Boomers (those born 1945-1965) who are now turning 60+ at the rate of 10,000 per day. Of the 76 million Baby Boomers in the U.S. today, it is estimated that half of them will live to see their 100th birthday!
And speaking of 100, there are 72,000 Centenarians in the U.S. today, currently the fastest growing segment of the population. Worldwide, that number is 450,000 Centenarians! In the US, at the current rate of growth, there could be 1 million people of 100 years of age or more by 2050. Our goal is to meet the challenges presented by this mass longevity--to educate and inform. Let's embrace and enjoy our aging process!
